Athanase's Blog 1-2) My fellow man, I write this to inform the world of the truth of the Geat War. It is hard to believe that the mass slaughter of so many brave men was caused by the hatred and unthinking manner of a single man. Gavrilo Pincip, with the aid of six other Serb nationalests plotted and on the date of June 28, 1914 they secuded in the assassination of both the Archduke Franz Ferinand of Austia-Hungary and his pregnant wife Sophie. This was a terrible loss. Because of Serbia's aid in the assassination, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. Serbia has an alliance with the great country of Russia in which my beloved homeland is also is in alliance with. I have signed on for this short war. I was to believe that this would just be an escape from my boring day to day life as the son of a poor farmer. But with the stalemate of the East and West battlefronts has stretched thing out far more than the short little was we were all expecting. If it wern't for all those stupid alliances this war would have never have happened.
3)The Germans are invading!!! They are past our north-eastern boarder. This has to stop know. They have already destroyed thousands of homes and factories. My cousin was forced to uproot his entire family. But not before loosing 2 children to this madness. I think the plan is fairly simple. We are going to hit German forces from behind. We will cut them off from their supply. Also with the Russian mobilization they are all ready being forced to ship troops to the eastern boarder. Our amunition is looking pretty good to me. The machiene guns are very effective, as are the artillary cannons. We Will Beat Back the Huns!!!
- 4) The posters really say it all "they shall not pass". These posters are a great thing. They show all the good people at home just what we are all fighting for. The poster here is to support the moral of the soldiars and their families. The artest really got a pretty picture. It looks very heroic. What they lift out were that soldiars buddys dead in the background. The pain can only truly be grasped by those standing on the front -line. 5)Well I guess we all saw it coming. Russia a.k.a. "the sissy quiters" have officially tucked tail and ran. I mean I get that there are problems going on up there and all. But they signed on with the Alliance. That means you see it through all the way. Know all of Germany is focused on our boarder. The war front territory is beginning to look like swiss cheese. But on the brighter side of things I think they're really wearing down. This can't last much longer. I think we're running out of soldiars as it is. Dosen't matter who's side you're on, although I'd say we do have the better side of the fence with the United States getting involveed. This will really make a differance. They're the strongest nation in the world. They just refreshed our lines. I have to feel a little bit of pitty though. They're just like us when this all started. "Gun ho and ready to go", that's what my daddy always said. Is peace ever going to come? It's beginning to seem like one of those bitter sweet dreams you didn;t want to wake up from. Oh well I guess all we have left are guns and prayers.God bless the United States and God bless France.
_ 6)The end has come at last. The war is ending. On June 28, 1919 our great leader Prime Minister Georges Clemenceau will meet the other leaders of the world in Versailles. This is the day we have waited for. At last our prayers have been answered. Know our only true need is the rebuilding of our lands that hve been destroyed (by which the Gremans shoud pay for) and the possible return of the territory of Alsace-Lorraine. This was tken from us not long ago and we demand its return. I feel the relief of the nations and every man, woman and child within it. We are safe at last.
